Your role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our Data Business Intelligence team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing data warehouses, particularly within the financial market, and will be proficient in the Microsoft stack and SQL Server 2016 and higher. This role ensures that the data solutions align with the overall data warehouse architecture. You will be reporting to the NL Data Engineering Lead within the Data department.

Your responsibilities

As SRE at Lloyds Bank, you'll primarily focus on the following responsibilties: 

  • Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of our on-premise data warehouse.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and other stakeholders to optimize data workflows and processes.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, and incident response systems.
  • Perform regular system updates, patches, and performance tuning.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline operations and reduce manual intervention.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data warehouse infrastructure and applications.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide support for critical systems.

You and your experience

Experience and Knowledge
  • Minimum 3-5 years of working experience as IT & Business Analyst
  • Experienced with 3 or more of technology aspects such as: o Experience with IT infrastructure management (i.e. cloud setup, traditional datacentre setup, outsourcing model)
  • Proven longstanding experience with the Microsoft stack, including SQL Server 2016 (or above) and development tools such as Visual Studio, versioning, TFS, and Urban Code.
  • Experience with data warehouse testing.
  • Experience with data warehouse management and optimization.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or similar.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
  • Web Technologies (e.g. HTML, XML, web services, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft stack, including SQL Server 2016 and higher.
  • Strong knowledge of project management disciplines, standards, processes and governance, certified qualification an advantage.
  • Advanced understanding of data warehouse architecture, the ETL process, data warehouse concepts (Kimball method), and end-to-end reporting solutions.
  • Knowledge of financial market data and applications is a plus.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) is a plus.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Preferred: certification in Microsoft SQL Server or related technologies.
Skills and Capabilities
  • Fluency in Dutch and English is essential.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Able to implement, test and support solutions across the full software development lifecycle
  • Able to work in a multi supplier environment, vendors, managing across teams, and working directly with business
  • Acting as Agile Technical Product Owner on behalf of the Business Users o Iterative development methodologies (e.g., RUP, Agile, Scrum)
  • Able to combine project management standards with high paced transformational change environment.
  • Strong organizational/planning skills with the ability to coordinate and organize workloads in a structured way, ability to work with tight deadlines.
  • Striving for continuous improvement of existing processes and practices.
  • Strong empathy for the experience and journeys of our customers and business introducers.
  • Eagerness to be part of a team that drives innovation in the financial services sector paired with personal drive to explore new technologies and trends.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to colleagues at all levels.
  • Able to draw upon strong influencing and negotiation skills in order to manage senior stakeholders’ needs and expectations.
  • Displays social competencies in cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.
