Your role
We may be part of a large banking Group, but we’re a small, tight-knit bank with a focused business model and a young team. For our Data Management Team, we are looking for a Data Management Officer with proven experience in consulting different stakeholders in a federated data governance model, as well as experience in implementing data management capabilities for those stakeholders and the overall organisation. As a data management officer you will ensure The bank meets key regulatory objectives as well as key strategic objectives, through harnessing the value of data.

A day in the life of a data management officer
After your morning coffee you sit with the team and discuss latest progress on the ongoing activities, exchanging insights and challenges. You engage in discussions with the Data Management Team and data management project governance on topics related to the design and implementation of our data governance organization and the data management capabilities Implementation.
You grab lunch with a group of colleagues from the Data Team, where you learn about the latest cloud migration and third party vendor data pipeline developments that may affect the way our data management implementation goals can be achieved – something to bear in mind and discuss with the data management project stakeholders?
After lunch you get in touch with the Group colleague you work with, to streamline our data management implementation objectives and tools with the groups data management implementation objectives and tools, facing the challenge of collaborating with the Group on specifics of the local requirements. You then integrate the solution into the slide deck you’ll later present to the management in the data management project meetings.
Towards the end of your workday you have your weekly 1-1 session with the junior colleague who’s working with you on the implementation of data management capabilities for a specific data owner, where you challenge their results and mentor them as they tackle new challenges and expand their knowledge into a new area you’re already an expert in.
The team
The Data Management Team is part of the wider Data team, tasked with implementing new data management capabilities as well as overseeing and consulting active data management activities. Our mission is to assist the Bank in achieving its strategic goals, while actively understanding and managing the challenges and risks that come with being a data-driven organization. We do this by:
- Building relationships within the team in order to effectively perform the diverse data management/governance tasks and foster cooperation and growth;
- Connecting with data governance stakeholders, with the goal of effectively managing the processes of data management.
- Relying on our strong analytical background, combining it with the understanding of how Banks work, as well as solid stakeholder management;
- Delivering actionable results to the top management, enabling well-informed decisions with a positive impact on the Bank;
- Interacting successfully with the Group colleagues, Internal and External Audit and Supervisory Authorities;
- Reporting on the developments in the Bank’s data management activities as well as related data risks;
- Overseeing the process of managing all phases of implementation of new data management capabilities;
- Staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the field.
You recognize yourself in this profile
Experience and Knowledge
- 5+ years of varied experience in data management/governance positions in retail banking;
- Solid knowledge of data management/governance frameworks and best practices;
- Programming skills in SQL/Python or similar languages;
- Experience coaching junior colleagues.
Qualifications
- University degree in a relevant subject (Business and information technology related studies)
