Your role
We may be part of a large banking group, but we’re a small, tight-knit bank with a focused business model and a young team. The Data Risk Officer at Lloyds Bank is responsible for supporting the risk management framework, focusing on data-related risks. This role involves identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks, maintaining risk documentation, and fostering a risk-aware culture within the Data Management team. You will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure comprehensive risk management and contribute to the bank’s resilience. This role is integrated into Lloyds Bank’s Data Management Project, and while most activities will be related to data management, the role will also support risk activities within the wider data department.
A day in the life of a Data Risk Officer
After your morning coffee, you start the day by checking your email for responses to information requests you’ve sent across the business teams. You then join a meeting with the Data Management team to discuss ongoing risk assessments and action plans. Mid-morning, you conduct a training session for team members on best practices in risk management, ensuring everyone is up-to-date with the latest regulatory requirements and internal policies.
After lunch, you collaborate with second-line risk specialists to address specific risk management needs and update the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) framework. In the afternoon, you work on documenting risk events and developing action plans to mitigate identified risks. You also spend time preparing for an upcoming Risk & Compliance Committee, ensuring that all materials are ready and relevant.
Towards the end of the day, you review and update risk documentation, ensuring everything is accurate and organized. You finish the day by responding to risk-related queries from colleagues and providing insights and recommendations to enhance the organization’s risk management framework.
