A day in the life of a Product Manager

Your day starts with reviewing recent market developments and conducting market analysis to prepare insights for management.
You then check the latest updates on the product workstream, where your role involves defining go-to-market product features in collaboration with stakeholders in Treasury, Operations and Credit Risk as well as ensuring product approval from management. You coordinate the necessary information on among others target markets, customer processes and product risks. With a clear overview, you provide an update to the Incubator Team in your weekly update meeting, discussing developments and potential blockers.

Since it’s a team day, you are in the office and take a break over lunch with colleagues from the broader Corporate Banking team, where you catch up on private conversations before getting back to work.

In the afternoon, you focus on continuous product governance topics. You conduct a Customer Fair Value Assessment and prepare the monthly report to management. To ensure accurate reporting, you align with stakeholders in Finance, Credit Risk and Sales to assess product performance. After a quick check with them, you finalize the report, preparing insightful slides and data-driven summaries with graphs for management review.

Towards the end of the days, you have a 1-to-1 session with the Commercial Banking Manager. Together, you work on the improvement of the Product Governance process. You perform a gap analysis comparing the corporate governance framework with the existing retail process for the bank. Finally, you discuss the next steps and action points to move forward in the coming days.
