Your role

We may be part of a large banking group, but we’re a small, tight-knit bank with a focused business model and a young team. For our Business Support Unit, we are looking for an experienced First Line Risk Management Expert (Financial Crime Prevention). As a Risk Expert, you will support our business in identifying, assessing, and mitigating a wide range of risks, with a primary focus on anti-money laundering, fraud prevention, and sanctions compliance, working closely with, among others, the Integrity Control Department to prevent and/or detect risks and implement appropriate measures.

A day in the life of a Risk Expert in Financial Crime Prevention

After our daily stand-up with the team, where we discuss the latest progress on ongoing activities, exchange insights, and address challenges, you will fill your morning with requests from Second Line of Defence (2LoD) and/or Third Line of Defence (3LoD), conduct research on the risk framework, and review first-line responsibilities. You will have conversations with stakeholders and collaborate with first-line departments, such as Integrity Control and underwriting departments, to ensure a clear understanding of risk-mitigating controls and actions. Together with the team, you will decide when to work at the office or from home. At the office, you can have the most interesting conversations with colleagues during lunch and learn more about your colleagues and Lloyds Bank.

After lunch, you will join a meeting with the Financial Crime Team (2LoD) to coordinate on issues within relevant departments, such as audit findings or action plans that need attention. Towards the end of your workday, you will have time to work on the training materials you are creating. This training will help other first-line colleagues understand the risks we are facing and how they can mitigate these risks.

Which team will you be joining?

The Business Support Unit is a completely new team that operates within the First Line of Defence. Within the team, you will work with Risk Experts with various areas of expertise, Business Support Managers, and Quality Assurance Officers. Together, you will ensure the proper interpretation and implementation of various mitigating controls and maintain a robust risk framework.

You will serve as the primary risk management support to first-line teams, such as Human Resources, Marketing, Business Development, and Operations. You will also be the first point of contact for second-line risk specialists, promoting collaboration and communication to address risk management needs effectively. By enhancing the capabilities of the first line, the 1st Line Risk Management Expert will contribute to the bank's ability to manage risks effectively while seizing opportunities for innovation and development.

It's also important to note that the 1st Line Risk Management Expert operates as a general risk management support function. For this role, you must be willing to operate in other risk areas as needed, such as Data Privacy, Credit Risk, Legal & Compliance, Operational Risk, and Conduct Risk, to maintain continuity and flexibility within the team. Working with colleagues in the unit, this is an excellent opportunity to learn about different risk divisions.

  • Risk Identification and Assessment
  • Risk Administration and Documentation
  • Internal & External Audit Support
  • Training and Support
  • Collaboration and Communication
  • Process Governance and Standardization
  • Continuous Improvement
