Your role
We may be part of a large banking group, but we’re a small, tight-knit bank with a focused business model and a young team. The Risk Manager for Security/Technology within the Non-Financial Risk department at Lloyds Bank is responsible for managing risks together with the team and the business, focusing mainly on Technology and Security risks. This role involves oversighting risk management through test plans, advising and guiding the business, translating internal and external requirements into policies, and providing training and awareness.
While most activities are related to Technology and Security, the role also covers Data Quality Management and Financial reporting together with the team.
A day in the life of a Risk Manager Security and Technology
After your morning coffee, you start the day by checking the team mailbox for requests or questions in your areas to respond to. You then join the bi-weekly meeting with the Security and Technology colleagues from the team to discuss topics, align approaches and raise and/or answer questions. Mid-morning you perform a Test Plan on a Control around penetration testing to validate the design and operating effectiveness.
After lunch, you have noticed a potential security incident and coordinate the management of it as you are on duty today ensuring applicable regulatory reporting timelines are being adhered to. In the afternoon, you assess the applicability of a new regulatory requirement.
Towards the end of the day, you validate a risk acceptance to ensure the risk is appropriately documented and understood. You finish the day by responding to questions and requests received in your mailbox and updating tasks in Microsoft Planner.
Which team will you be joining?
The Data, Security and Technology Team within the Non-Financial Risk department at Lloyds Bank is responsible for ensuring the management of Data Privacy, Records Management, Data Ethics, Data Quality, Security, Technology and Financial Reporting risks with agreed risk appetite and in accordance with the Risk Management Framework, the Policy Framework and applicable law and regulations. We are a divers team of experts in multiple areas and having different cultural backgrounds. We are working across countries as part of the team is based in Berlin and part of the team in Amsterdam. As such, we often work remotely, but periodically come together in our offices separately as well as all together. The tasks of the Risk Manager for Security/Technology include the following in the area of Technology and Security as well as Data Quality Management and Financial Reporting:
- Oversight risk management through performing test plans
- Perform continuous risk management by operating processes and performing controls
- Ensure the continuous risk assessment of the bank’s local information and data domains
- Act as point of contact for the definition of policies and procedures in close cooperation with internal stakeholders
- Provide strategic guidance to the business operation
- Support and advice departments
- Coordinate changes in cooperation with internal/external stakeholders
- Oversight and advice changes
- Design and issue regular and ad hoc reporting to the Management Board as well as other internal and external stakeholders
- Develop, maintain and monitor related indicators and risk appetite metrics
- Design and execute regular training and awareness campaigns
- Assess legal and regulatory changes and ensure translation into local processes
- Assess existing as well as new suppliers
You recognize yourself in this profile
Experience and Capabilities
- Profound knowledge of Security Standards (e.g. ISO, DORA, MaRisk, NIST, ITIL)
- At least 3 years of experience in Security, IT and risk/compliance/audit within financial services industry
- Interest in other risk areas, such as Data Quality Management, Financial reporting and Technology
- Knowledge and/or experience on Data Quality Management, Financial Reporting and Technology (BCBS 239, CRR, SOX) is a pre
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong planning and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Strong influencing skills
- Fluency in written and spoken English (German and/or Dutch is a plus)
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
