Your responsibilities

Manage, Coordinate and Develop

The role holder is responsible for setting priorities in regards to daily activities in a self-driven manner. This includes but is not limited to: 

  • Providing business departments with advice on compliance topics
  • Coordination internally and externally to manage, test and explain controls and their results
  • Working with the business to ensure colleagues understand and comply with the requirements of internal policies and relevant laws/regulations.  

Risk Management

The role holder is predominantly performing high-complexity tasks in high-materiality/ high-risk-exposure policies. This includes but is not limited to

  • Apply and adhere to the internal guidelines and policies for (operational) risk management, conduct and compliance
  • Identify, assess, manage, monitor and report about risks
  • Apply and adhere to the Compliance Framework and Compliance Risk Assessment Framework
  • Maintain and execute the local Compliance Plan and monitoring plan and enhance the compliance process
  • Identify legal and regulatory developments and inform internal stakeholders
  • Translate the internal policies and Dutch law and regulations into local processes and procedures
  • Provide advice on potential regulatory risks to new product initiatives, projects and changes
  • Raise internal awareness on regulatory risks and develop and provide relevant trainings
  • Establish and maintain the relationship with the Dutch Banking Association (NVB)

Group Policies

The role holder is responsible for the implementation of a number of high-materiality/ high-risk-exposure policies and the performance of allocated controls, which includes:

  • independent in his/ her thinking as to how regulatory and policy requirements shall be implemented
  • performing of gap analyses against local legislation; and
  • initiation of a waiver/ exception process as and when required.

Project / Change Management

It is required that the role holder may:

  • regularly pick up responsibilities from a change perspective to lead projects independently
  • act as a representative for the Legal & Compliance department in cross functional projects
  • maintain and develop relationships with other financial institutions/regulators or 3rd party suppliers.

Stakeholder Management

It is expected that the role holder can:

  • independently communicate with colleagues up to ‘’Head of’’ level and above, with a solution-oriented mindset aimed at problem solving
  • Any communication will be done in (fluent) English.
  • It is also expected that the role holder has a background in managing the relationship with Dutch regulators, namely the AFM and DNB.
  • It is also desired that the role holder has ECB experience in this capacity. This would include managing communications, reporting obligations and meetings with the regulators.

The Legal & Compliance Team is a diverse and growing team of around 14 professionals split between the Netherlands and Germany, including multiple nationalities and backgrounds. We enjoy collaborating and challenging our counterparts within the team and Lloyds GmbH on a broad range of topics.

You and your experience

Qualifications

  • A University Master’s degree in law, economics or equivalent
  • Risk Management or Certified Compliance Officer qualification or equivalent is preferred

Experience & Knowledge

  • 3+ years relevant experience in a risk or compliance function
  • Knowledge of Dutch financial services related law and regulations
  • Background in banking, specifically in mortgages
  • Experienced in communication with AFM, DNB and ECB

Skills & Capabilities

  • Good analytical skills with the ability to translate theory into practice, develop operational policies and procedures and ensure that these are understood and implemented
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and in writing (Dutch and English), and ability to demonstrate these skills effectively across all levels of the organisation
  • Good networking and influencing skills
  • Proactive and hands-on, with the ability to get things done under pressure
  • Self-motivated, autonomous and decisive

Good planning and prioritisation skills

  • Self-aware, keen on improving and change-oriented
  • Visible and available to the organization, including a minimum of 1 day a week in the office
